On the Feasibility of Using OWL 2 DL Reasoners for Ontology Matching Problems

In this paper we discuss the feasibility of using OWL 2 DL reasoners to diagnose the integration of large-scale ontologies via mappings. To this end, we have extended our ontology matching system LOGMAP with complete OWL 2 DL reasoning and diagnosis capabilities. We have evaluated the new system, which we call LOGMAP-FULL, with the largest matching problems of the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative, and we have compared its performance with LOGMAP, which currently relies on a highly-scalable (but incomplete) reasoner.
